TAKE ON A HEALTH CHALLENGE TO SUPPORT FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE!
Here's how it works: You take on a health challenge for the month of September and ask your friends and family to donate to your campaign. Simply sign up to register, complete your information, and make a statement about your health goal. We'll guide you through the process of promoting your campaign to your friends and family using email and social media.
*Always consult your doctor before taking on new dietary changes and exercise.
CHALLENGES:
Choose an activity from the list below - or choose as many as you'd like!
Activity #1 - Empowerment
Choose your own activity and take on a 30-day Health Challenge.
Those who don’t have a goal in mind can join in on our offered programming: a variety of choices, ranging from facilitating a presentation about our program to a steps challenge to mimic the miles put in by our nurses and facilitators that provide this programming.
Activity #2 - Education
Give a presentation to an organization/corporation about Friendship Bridge with a focus on the Health for Life program.
Supporters can host a 15-minute slide deck presentation that was created to specifically address the Health for Life program and its impact on the livelihoods of our clients
Activity #3 - Access
Participate with the team in Guatemala (Virtual Event).
Join Friendship Bridge employees in Guatemala and the US on Zoom for a virtual exercise activity. We’ll learn about how virtual opportunities like this one are also used in our Telehealth call centers, along with other new technological tools to increase access to health services.
Activity #4 - Services
Take on a step challenge to walk further than a facilitator walks in a month to serve our clients.
Do you have what it takes to keep up with our facilitators and nurses? On top of being educators and trained professionals, these talented individuals are known for being able to navigate the rough roads of Guatemala with their entire office on their back to get to our most remote clients.
If you have not yet registered for the 2021 Health for Life Challenge, please do so first before logging in.
Returning participants need to re-register each year. If using the same email as a previous year to register, you will need your login information from the previous year or to reset the password.
WHAT IS HEALTH FOR LIFE?
Friendship Bridge serves over 30,000 women a year whose access to preventive healthcare is rarely an option. This lack of healthcare only perpetuates the cycle of poverty. To further our mission of creating opportunities that empower Guatemalan women to build a better life, our Health for Life program provides health education and services to them at no cost.
THE NEED
After a year of operating under constraints such as lockdowns, travel restrictions, and reduced capacities, Friendship Bridge is experiencing a 27% increase in participation in our domiciliary Health program clinics, and fields more questions than ever regarding preventive health services. Additionally, misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine has become widespread and access is unattainable for individuals with literacy limitations and lack of internet access, both necessary for registering for a vaccine on the government website in Guatemala.
With the re-opening of markets and the beginning of a tiered vaccination effort in Guatemala, Friendship Bridge is aiming to not only regain full nurse and health program capacity in 4 of our branches but also to help facilitate a rebound for our clients by providing COVID-19 vaccine education and registration assistance.
YOUR IMPACT
In past years, our Health for Life Challenge supported the expansion of our health program. This year, we are asking for your support in re-establishing our foothold in these areas as we prepare to expand the program again in future years and set an example for other health and Microfinance Institutions in the region.
THE MATCH
All donations will be matched by a generous group of donors for a total match of $60,000 to Friendship Bridge! You can donate to an individual's challenge or click below to make a donation specifically to our Health for Life program.
