TAKE ON A HEALTH CHALLENGE TO SUPPORT FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE!
Here's how it works: You take on a health challenge for the month of August and ask your friends and family to donate to your campaign. Simply sign up to register, complete your information, and make a statement about your health goal. We'll guide you through the process of promoting your campaign to your friends and family using email and social media. As a benefit of taking on a challenge, we're sending weekly emails full of ways to stay #HealthAtHome during COVID-19, like free meditation videos from Calm®, yoga classes, healthy Guatemalan recipes, and cleaning challenges. *Please consult your doctor before taking on dietary changes and exercise.
WHAT IS HEALTH FOR LIFE?
Friendship Bridge serves over 32,000 women a year whose access to preventive healthcare is rarely an option. This lack of healthcare only perpetuates the cycle of poverty. To further our mission of creating opportunities that empower Guatemalan women to build a better life, our Health for Life program provides health education and services to them at no cost.
THE NEED
In the midst of this global pandemic, our clients at Friendship Bridge face unimaginable hardship. Their need for healthcare, as well as reliable information about COVID-19, is extreme. Guatemala has been largely shut down since mid-March with strict curfews, limited market hours, and no public transportation. While necessary in a poor country with minimal medical infrastructure, these measures have exacerbated the burdens of Friendship Bridge clients, leaving them with even less access to healthcare, work, and income. Some of our clients are literally struggling to buy food for their families.
HOW WE'VE RESPONDED
Friendship Bridge acted quickly to launch an Emergency Food Relief Program to feed more than 3,000 clients and their families. We also transitioned our Health for Life program into a remote telehealth service, sending health videos and making informative phone calls. In fact, we provided 5,853 individual medical phone calls to clients between April and July.
YOUR IMPACT
In past years, our Health for Life Challenge supported the expansion of our health program. This year, we are asking for your support in reaching more clients with in-home mobile clinic visits and expanded telehealth services via a call-center.
THE MATCH
Our staff in the U.S. are committed to the success of this campaign and have decided to match the first $20,000 raised by all Health for Life challenges. An additional $40,000 will be matched by another generous group of donors for a total match of $60,000 to Friendship Bridge! You can donate to an individual's challenge or click below to make a donation specifically to our Health for Life program.
