The month of September, we're challenging ourselves for change to help alleviate poverty for women in rural Guatemala.
For the 30,000 women Friendship Bridge serves each year, access to preventive healthcare is rarely an option. This lack of healthcare only perpetuates the cycle of poverty.
Through the Health for Life program, Friendship Bridge is providing women’s preventive health services to further their mission to alleviate poverty.
To help Friendship Bridge expand this important work, we're doing two things this month:
1. We're prioritizing our own health.
2. We're helping Friendship Bridge raise funds to expand Health for Life.
Would you support us in these efforts? Consider donating to our campaign (or even start your own!) so we can help Friendship Bridge expand their preventive health services. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by Sept 30. In Health for Life, $5,000 would translate into health services for 200 women for an entire year in Guatemala.
A little goes a long way when we’re talking about developing countries. Check out what your donation could do in Guatemala:
$10 – Two Pap smears
$25 – Preventive health services for one woman
$50 – Two birth control implants
$100 – Preventive health services package for four women for a year
$600 – A laptop for a nurse traveling to rural areas with a mobile clinic
$1,000 – A portion of health equipment, such as a diabetes testing machine
Friendship Bridge is creating opportunities that empower Guatemalan women to build a better life.
